Promoting shared values, shared spaces and building local capacities for dispute resolution

Objectives:
To promote shared spaces for dialogue among war affected communities with the sub objective of “non recurrence” of violence and atrocities stemming from armed conflict through storytelling, focusing on positive coping and resilience of senior citizens to be shared with youth in 6 districts of Sri Lanka.
Results:
Up to April 2019, conducted 283 individual meetings with 131 participants and collected 78 stories of war affected communities in psychosocially sensitive manner. Developed a grassroots toolkit for practitioners and organizations involved in TJ work providing guidelines to engage people in storytelling and memorialization in a psychosocially sensitive manner. Conducted 8 group discussions and the discussions are carried out based on the themes emerging from the individual stories as identified through the Grassroots Toolkit.
